The Star of Greenwich Community Pub

Mindful Art Sessions for Creativity and Connection

Tucked in the corner of a community pub, our monthly mindful art session became a regular Sunday evening fixture for people who needed it most. People of all ages and backgrounds came to enjoy gentle conversation and a relaxed evening of creativity. The aim was to feel good, not necessarily to produce ‘good’ art. Similar to social and creative prescribing programmes, this club helps to foster belonging and minimise social isolation.

PEOPLE
PAUSE

Gave people the opportunity to play with new art supplies and a pause for people craving a mindful activity.

gentle
conversation

Offered light-touch creative prompts that sparked making and gentle conversation.

friendly
drop-in

Ran friendly and inclusive monthly drop-in sessions that welcomed regulars and newcomers alike.

Impact

The pub gained a regular wellbeing offer that provided evidence of local outreach for their funding bids. And local people benefitted from a warm and thoughtful gathering. We heard stories. We made zines. We cut and pasted and laughed. But more than anything, we made space. And that made the difference.

  • “Young professionals mix with retired locals and it's been wonderful to see the positive impact this club has on people. Thank you so much for this Clare - it's hugely helpful and much appreciated.”
