Creative Confidence for Story Mentors

We led a creative writing for wellbeing workshop for Ministry of Stories volunteers to help them reconnect with their writing practice. The session supported these story mentors to reflect, recharge and continue their work with young writers with renewed enthusiasm.

facilitated discussion

Facilitated group discussion about sources of inspiration in the cityscape, our relationship with London and how to prioritise our own writing in a busy world.

introduced mindfulness

Gently introduced digital mindfulness concepts as a tool for reclaiming time, energy and focus.

delivered creative writing

Our Writing the City creative writing for wellbeing session included thoughtful prompts and spark tools for the charity’s volunteer story mentors.

Impact

Volunteers reported a stronger sense of belonging to the community at the Ministry. Many participants shared that it helped them feel recharged and seen, not just as mentors, but as writers and people with stories of their own to tell.

  • “I went across the road and bought a book to fill with the ideas that flowed as a result of Writing the City. The next few hours were spent happily writing away in my local park in my complete element.”
