Why Now?

In social purpose work, you’re pulled in a hundred directions.

There’s rarely enough time, energy or space to step back and think clearly.

That’s why coaching matters. It isn’t a luxury. It’s a practical tool that helps you stay effective, resilient and impactful without losing yourself along the way.

You might be stepping into something new. Or preparing to step back.

Your creativity may have gone quiet. Your confidence may have wobbled. Or your work may feel more reactive than intentional.

And perhaps your board, trustees or team are expecting more from you. You know something has to shift.

Quarterly Coaching gives you the structure and support to make that shift with clarity and care.

Clare Barry
Writer, Partnerships Strategist, Facilitator

Hello! I’ve spent over 20 years working at the intersection of creative health, education, social impact and community leadership in London.

I’ve raised millions in funding, led high-value partnerships at London Business School, the LSE and East End Community Foundation. I now serve as a Board Member of Greenwich Giving. But my real expertise comes from lived experience: burnout, back surgery and bereavements taught me that resilience and creativity are essential to keep us going.

Through Urban Curiosity, I’ve worked with organisations from Holborn Community Association to Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust and Camden Council. I’ve been a contributor to Teesside University’s Masters in creative writing and wellbeing. My writing on creativity, leadership and wellbeing has been published in Psychologies, Stylist, Women’s Health, Vanity Fair and more.

When we work together 1:1, you’ll bring the challenges and ambitions that matter most to you. I’ll bring deep listening, honest questions and a mix of strategy and creativity. With the right support, new possibilities open up.

faqs

What’s expected of me?

Show up with openness. Be willing to reflect and take small steps forward.

Can my organisation pay for this?

Yes. Many charities, social enterprises and community projects cover coaching through leadership, training or wellbeing budgets.

How often are sessions?

We’ll decide together. Some prefer fortnightly momentum, others monthly reflection. The rhythm is flexible within your 3-month container.

Can we meet in person?

Yes. Most clients choose Zoom for ease, but in-person sessions in London are available at a higher rate to reflect travel and time. We can also mix online and in-person if that works best for you.

What about between sessions?

You’ll have the option of light check-ins (via email or voice note). Enough to keep momentum, without adding pressure.

How is this different from consultancy?

Consultancy delivers answers. Coaching helps you uncover your own. With me, you’ll also benefit from 20+ years of sector insight into partnerships, fundraising, facilitation and creative health (woven in when useful).

Is this confidential?

Yes. Everything you share stays between us. This is your space to think out loud without judgement.

  • "My advice to anyone thinking of working with Clare Barry is be honest, trust her and know you will be better for it. Our association is 40 years old this year, which meant looking at ourselves with fresh eyes and a trusted, respected critical friend. Clare provided that perspective and more."

Mrs S Elie MBE, Executive Director
    Somers Town Community Association

  • “I cannot recommend Clare enough. She is highly professional at what she does. If you are starting a new venture, pivoting an existing one, or just need someone to brainstorm and filter your craziest bravest business ideas, Clare’s the coach you want.”

    Olga Waller, Freelance Illustrator
    London/Paris

  • “We have almost doubled our email list in a year and our 2020 fundraising benchmarking report has been quoted in industry books and by prestigious training providers. This is all thanks to Clare’s really practical suggestions on how to get PR for it.”

    Caroline Danks, Fundraising Consultant
    LarkOwl

  • “Working with Clare was really valuable. She helped me to find the right questions that I needed to ask myself in order to move forward as a professional, as a creative and as a person. Clare helped me to articulate the boundaries I need to put into place in my working life, and helped me to refocus on my long term goals.”

    Jemima Hindmarch, Media Developer
    Floating Films

  • "An opportunity to tune into what’s really important in your creative practice and everyday life. What we explored has helped me navigate difficult emotions, such as feeling overwhelmed or creatively lost.”

Stella Cecil, Theatre Designer and Artist
    Small Seeds Theatre

  • “Clare always manages to remind me to be curious!  One of her questions that really resonated is: ‘In what areas of your life have you focused more on reaching your goal or destination than enjoying the journey or experience?’ - I need this on my desk as a daily reminder that the process/journey is actually my life!”
