Sunday Socials: Zine-Making and Collage

We brought scissors, glue sticks, stamps and a stack of magazines to Holborn Community Association’s Sunday Socials. The workshops offered older participants a fun, low-pressure way to express themselves, share stories and try something new.

delivered
workshops

Delivered a series of zine-making, art and collage workshops tailored to mixed-ability groups of older adults aged 55 to 90-years-old.

Impact

The sessions were joyful. People opened up, relaxed and met local friends. Many returned week after week, excited to see what they would make next. This fostered a sense of belonging and minimised the loneliness and isolation faced by many older people.

  • “Everyone really enjoyed it. The session gave participants space to choose whatever medium they were comfortable with to make their zine, whether it was collaging words and pictures, writing, drawing, doodling or using washi tapes!”
