Dreams Without Action Are Just Fantasy
Sarah Starrs on reconnecting with our dreams.
Alive 08: Dreams
Dreams are powerful. They get a bad rep for being wishy washy but dreams light us up. They remind us where we want to go, who we want to be, and how we want to live.
As children, we’re encouraged to dream and are told that we can do and be anything we dream up. We were constantly flinging ourselves in the direction of one dream or another. But along the path of growing up, this behaviour was soon dismissed as fanciful and immature. We lost touch with our dreams as we were constantly told what we “should” be doing. This is dangerous. We need our dreams!
Dreams are like a compass and when we follow them, magic happens. The whole world opens up and we stay in touch with who we truly are. But dreams without action are just fantasies. When we align our thoughts and actions with our dreams, we learn to truly love ourselves and create a life we adore.
Allow yourself to dwell in the realm of your dreams today. Scribble in your journal or lie in the grass and just imagine everything you desire. Every tiny facet of your ideal life. Then take one action, however small, in that direction. Every day you can use your dreams to guide your actions and create a life you love.
