SLOW DOWN
& SEE THINGS DIFFERENTLY

We help modern changemakers* do work that matters - without burning out. Because burnout and compassion fatigue don’t have to be inevitable by-products of your nonprofit work success.

To stay calm, creative and energised, you need to slow down in a world that’s speeding up.

It starts with curiosity.

PEOPLE say

“The Urban Curiosity founder was an everyday Londoner and far from the kind of mindfulness leader I had been expecting. Mental health is still a scary phrase, despite its obvious importance, but the session was full of practical advice with tips relatable to everyday life.”

OUR MISSION

Urban Curiosity is a creative health consultancy based in south-east London. We exist to inspire and connect changemakers to rethink what work/life balance looks like. And to encourage communities to expand their creative horizons.

Creative wellbeing is as important as physical or mental health. Reclaiming time and headspace to think, play and experiment is vital for healthy, resilient humans. Creativity helps us make sense of ourselves and of each other.

Burnout doesn’t have to be inevitable. Did you know the average person spends more than 90,000 hours at work across a lifetime? Here at Urban Curiosity, we are interested in how to cultivate greater compassion, empathy and boundaries at work. And build a calm, satisfying life.

Culture change starts with stories. We start by telling the true stories of changemakers and their experiences of doing social impact work. Through our panel events and and essays, we ask questions about what’s working, examine what’s broken and discover ideas and solutions.

Mindful walking is life-changing. When you begin to explore your city with fresh, curious eyes, it changes every aspect of your life. You begin saying “hello” to neighbours that you’ve never greeted before. You remember creative dreams and ambitions that you pushed aside long ago. You start noticing your life instead of just rushing through it. Surprising connections and synchronicities materialise. The transformation is profound. We share more on the power of a simple stroll in the Urban Curiosity Walkshop.

Connection and community are essential ingredients for a high-quality life. Here at Urban Curiosity, we create intentional, inclusive communities - spaces where you can be seen, supported, heard and understood. Trying to go it alone can lead to isolation and doubt.

A lot of career advice doesn’t work anymore. There are many leadership and business ideas that promote the cult of speed, hustle, hacking, slaying or crushing it. Meanwhile funding and budgets are being cut. You’re expected to do more with less. What if we cultivate the courage to slow down when everyone else is speeding up? Alternative possibilities may emerge. We unpack and explore all of this in our newsletter.

It’s up to us to build the future. We know what needs to be done. It’s time to make the changes. As we grow Urban Curiosity, our intention is to help changemakers build energy, focus and resilience for the projects that matter most (and the challenges ahead).
